Indexos is now a Claude connector. Add it in Settings, and you can ask about your stock, yourpurchase orders and your cash in plain language — across Amazon, Shopify, TikTok Shop andWalmart at once.
No dashboard, no export, no spreadsheet in between. This post covers what that does in practice, how to connect it inabout a minute, and what it can and cannot see.
Most inventory questions do not start as inventory questions. They start as can we afford this order, or why is cashtight this month, or did the 3PL receive what we paid for.
Answering any of them today means opening three dashboards, exporting two spreadsheets, and doing arithmeticnobody enjoys. The data exists. It just sits in different places, and joining it is manual work you repeat every week.
That gets worse with every channel you add. Stock lives in one system, payouts in another, supplier lead times in athird, and none of them agree on what a SKU is.
Indexos already holds those pieces together: stock by location, sales by channel, supplier lead times, open purchaseorders, marketplace payouts. What was missing was a way to ask across all of them in one sentence.
The phrase usually means a forecasting model bolted onto a dashboard. That is useful, but it still leaves you readingcharts and doing the join in your head.
Connecting Indexos to Claude changes the interface, not just the maths. You ask a question the way you would askan operations manager, and the answer comes back with your own numbers in it.
Ask: "What am I about to run out of, and what would the purchase order cost?"
Indexos runs a stockout forecast against current stock and recent demand, groups what is at risk by supplier, andsizes the order against the lead time you have recorded. You get a supplier-ready plan rather than a list of alarms.
This is the last mile most inventory forecasting software leaves out. Knowing a SKU runs out in 19 days is onlyuseful if you also know the lead time is 25.
Ask: "Can I afford a $40k reorder this month?"
This is the question that usually gets answered by gut feel. Indexos compares the order against incoming marketplacepayouts and open commitments over the same window, and shows you the gap if there is one.
Inventory planning and cash planning are the same problem for a growing brand. Most tools treat them as two.
Ask: "What's tying up my cash?"
Indexos maps capital sitting in overstock and dead stock, payouts that have not settled, money committed to openPOs, and excess coverage on SKUs that sell fine but are stocked six months deep. Each bucket comes withsomething you can act on.
Underneath those three there is more: reconciliation across supplier invoices, 3PL receipts and channel inventory;revenue, margin and turnover by channel; reorder points with service-level scenarios; demand forecasting with achoice of models.
Claude connectors are built on MCP, the Model Context Protocol — an open standard for letting an AI assistantreach the systems where your data already lives. Indexos runs an MCP server, and the Claude connector is how youreach it. You do not need to know any of that to use it.
To connect:
That is the whole setup. You can also add the server manually as a custom connector using https://app.indexos.com/api/mcp.
Your marketplace connections stay where they are. Claude never sees your Amazon or Shopify credentials, and itnever sees your Indexos password. The connector acts as you, and reaches only the workspaces your account canalready open.
Claude reads your products, stock levels, orders, suppliers, purchase orders and payout data. A small number ofactions write back to Indexos, such as preparing a purchase order draft, and Claude asks before running any of them.Nothing is ever sent to a supplier or a marketplace automatically.
Two honest caveats.
Recommendations are only as good as the cost data behind them. If a SKU has no unit cost recorded, Indexos reportsit as unknown rather than quietly treating it as zero, and reorder totals will say so.
Figures come from the most recent completed sync, so they can differ slightly from a marketplace dashboard you arerefreshing in another tab. For a live read on a short date range, ask for one and Indexos will query the channel APIdirectly.
The connector gives Claude the same view of your operation that Indexos has. As we deepen what Indexos tracks —supplier reliability, landed cost, seasonality — the questions you can ask get better without you changing anything.
If you try it and something answers wrong, tell us at support@indexos.com. The specific question you asked is themost useful bug report we can get.
Connectors are integrations you add in Claude's settings that let it read and act on data in another system — yourinventory, your CRM, your documents. You add them from the connectors directory or by URL.
An MCP server is a service that exposes tools an AI assistant can call, using the open Model Context Protocol. AClaude connector is how you add one to Claude. Indexos runs the server; the connector is the way in.
Amazon, Shopify, TikTok Shop and Walmart. Questions are answered across every connected channel at once, notone at a time.
A dashboard shows you a forecast. This answers the question you actually had, by joining forecast, supplier leadtimes and cash position in one pass.
You need an Indexos account with at least one sales channel connected and its initial sync complete.
Only through a small number of actions, and only after asking you. Purchase orders are created as drafts in Indexosand you send them yourself.
